Lazer Collazo
...apparently thought he had more manhood then the rest of us.
Sometime in April, after the Gulliver Prep private high school baseball team in Miami, Florida, lost a game to another private school, Collazo, a former University of Miami coach, called the team into the locker room for a meeting that included players, coaches and even parents.
Somebody complained about what happened during the meeting... to the Coral Gables police. Published reports say the complaints featured the following allegations: (non-verbatim quote, click for the Miami Herald article)The Head baseball coach [Collazo] dropped his pants and took out his penis, and... accused players of not having the testicular fortitude it takes to play baseball. He then pointed to his penis, testicles and asked the team if they had a set of these or were they equipped with a vagina. I tried to find Collazo's home address and phone number so I could encourage tormenting this poor, mentally defunct human being who has now left the position. Switchboard lists too many people for me to dig through for these catty purposes, so you won't see his contact info here. Yet.
Instead, you can continue to bug the school, for whom winning baseball games was apparently pretty damn important:
Gulliver Preparatory Campus 6575 North Kendall Drive Miami, FL 33156 Main Office: 305-666-7937 Fax: 305-665-3791
In all fairness (hah!) the school did release a statement saying after the coach's resignation saying he acted in a highly inappropriate manner. I've tried getting Gulliver's web site, including Collazo's bio page, but perhaps they've shut it down because of bleeding P.R. ink.
Listen, I know a certain Northwestern private school is way too relaxed and fair to do that sort of sh*t -- not to mention focused on things that are NOT baseball or football -- but if I hear anything of the sort, they will be hearing an earful from me, whether I am a donor or not.
Articles about the Collazo's career demise and departure: Collazo steps down -- The Buzz, St. Petersburg Times Original allegations -- nbc17.com (Internet Broadcasting Systems) Gulliver's Collazo out -- Miami Herald (Sports) Column: Gulliver, don't cry over coach, lament "lessons" -- Miami Herald Collazo resigns -- Miami Herald (News) Questions of Collazo resigning -- Miami Herald (Sports) Questions of Collazo resigning -- Miami Herald (News)
The original Herald article -- and if news.google.com is anything to go by the Herald practically owned the bloody story. I couldn't find anything old-school on WFOR's website. Labels: Originally published
