Who's that boi?

Palabra Jot - Palabra Jot: "See if you can spot..."

Ah, news promos.

Yeah, the goof(ball) would be YOU. And WHY were you boppin' to the music like a dodo when you knew better?

Isn't it fun putting yourself in your show? I had a friend who had a shooter get video of people singing badly -- around the newsroom... Including herself... for a story about singing karaoke badly.

The other day the consumer reporter, seeing me with a Dunkin Donuts iced coffee cup, asked if she could use me for the ending of a package -- she needed the sound of an iced drink being finished. Never mind that I had poured my Caffeine Free Diet Coke in the cup -- it looked like coffee. The clip ended up not being used in the final sweeps piece. Ah, well.

Then, last Friday I had to fill in on the 11. One of the packages: a so-called "strip joint" where the strips are pizza, and the women hanging around are porn stars. Necessity is the mother of invention -- or fill in your own quote about opportunity. One of my fellow producers had just offered me a piece of pizza from Papa Gino's left over from lunch. I couldn't resist grabbing a shooter and having him get my mouth eating the pizza lasciviously... for use in a prepro'ed open to the story. Between that and stock footage we were really reaching for the bottom of the barrel.

This was also the night when I ended up skipping dinner because news kept popping. To not eat a decent meal when you were doing a story where pizza plays a major role... agony.
