Fake restaurant for reality show, but so the eff what?
New York Post reports in Dressed to Grill that the "Hell's Kitchen" restaurant isn't a real restaurant; and in fact used to be the newsroom of KCOP-TV.
....Um, okay.... let me get this straight. Is the restaurant populated with fake diners? Are they actors screwing with the heads of the contestants?
If they're real diners off the street who can make reservations or stop in for a bite to eat while Gordon Ramsay screams his head off like my a news director, then how is it fake?
Even if the restaurant is not open every day. Even if there's only an 8:00 seating. Even though the restaurant is equipped with 75 hidden cameras and living space for the contestants. And two, count 'em, TWO kitchens.
Well, how about this. Is the "restaurant" certified by the Board of Health for LA to actually serve food?
Even though a contestant might have screwed something up and, say, undercooked something?
If that is a possibility how could you get certified? And shouldn't diners be warned that they are eating at their own risk?
And if that's the case, should they have to pay for the dinner?
What if it's a studio/office building commissary?
I'm sorry I don't watch "Hell's Kitchen" but what's the deal here?
Why couldn't the "fake" restaurant be sold off after the TV series to a real restauranteur? Or why doesn't Gordon Ramsay buy the place and operate it year-round?
I dunno about the crux of your story, Don Kaplan. Labels: Originally published
