Assault on feminity in men
I'm linking to Honeytom's entry on how effeminate gay men are persecuted (which is closer to the end of this... Honeytom is wicked interesting to read but, darling, he DOES tend to meander sometimes).
Here is my comment:You raise a good point. One of my co-workers is often making fun of me and trying to make me out to be "more gay than he is." Even though he has a boyfriend and I have none, we each spend the same copious amounts on clothes (and underwear), and we can both be prone to a) hugely inappropriate and sexual double entendres in the workplace (though working overnight in news can often be a little blue-r when there are no managers) and b) high, coquettish voices or laughter.
Okay, well, fine, I'm more prone to squealing like a little girl than he is. But still.
This of course draws further attention to the assault on feminity in men. But anyway.
