Anxiously awaiting
I'm finally back from the mini-vacation in Provincetown, but will still be decompressing for about 18 hours or so, so it will be a while before I do the full reviews of P-town and Hooker Street Band. The short, short versions:
Hooker Street Band was a lot of fun. And I'm starting to think that you cannot lump them in with anybody else. It's REALLY hard to compare them to anybody else in my music collection. They're not garage band, they're not balladeers, it's ... it's showing me I have got to read up more on various bands of this ilk to be able to talk in this vernacular. They have good fun. It's not like the songs are "funny," it's more like a serious rock mindset that knows not to take itself too seriously.
Provincetown was wonderful, and it was surprisingly easy to find a couple of nights' worth of spots through walking in. Having a credit card helped with that no doubt. I spent waaaaaaaaaayyyyy too much money (fun-fun-fun-fun-fun*) and needed about three extra days' worth of clothes -- I walked around town so much and sweated so much in the serious humidity that I ended up having to change clothes in the middle of the day... Even though changing clothes in the middle of the day was probably a good idea, considering how many men I was hanging around with who were concerned with looking more incredible than the next guy.
Much, much, much more later on both experiences. I plan to go on for hours on each topic!
* like Tigger, and as opposed to fun-fun-fun
